Pre-Order FAQ

Why do you release clothing as preorder?

Being a small business we don't have a lot of capacity and capital to produce a wide range of products seasonally, like most established clothing brands do.  Preorder allows customers to part finance production, with each order placed a vote that informs what designs get made, what size range and colour options that are decided upon. This method allows us to have a dialogue with our customers, ensuring we find a link between us that can easily be taken for granted.

Preorders are good because they...

  1. Minimize the risk of making clothes nobody wants to buy, reducing waste.
  2. Provides an opportunity for us to expand the size range or add colour options for popular designs
  3. Allow us to restock popular designs that newcomers to the brand may have missed out on
  4. Let us experiment with ideas, maintaining our sense of originality

How does preorder work?

Preorder is very customer-friendly because it reduces the pressure on folks who are considering buying one of our items. We provide broad timelines for each campaign on purpose, giving everyone more than enough time to think carefully about whether they really want the item or not. Think of it like the opposite of drop-shipping, we want to make sure each person that commits to buying from us has taken the time and care to really decide 'for sure' if they want our items.

Further to that, the preorder format helps reduce the scope for panic buying, as it guarantees folks the item including the size/colour, without the need for setting stopwatches and timers for release day.

Preorder period can vary, depending on the nature of the design, but it's usually 2-3 weeks. After the preorder deadline production begins. The production time is usually 4-8 weeks. Once production is complete they are shipped by freight, which varies between 2-8 weeks depending on international shipping lanes and seasonal traffic.

When running a preorder, we always update the process on social media (typically instagram via the shop channel) so you can follow me on there to get the latest news.

Do you do restock designs?

Sometimes. Being a very small brand, we can't hold onto too much stock. That's not to say we never do them, we do, but reserve restocking for designs that are extremely popular.
